Workshop on "Errors in doses"
This is a joint Alpha-Risk and Gene-Rad-Risk workshop.
Because the main objective of the workshop is to discuss statistical methods to take into account errors in radiation doses, a topic of broader concern in radiation epidemiology in general, interested parties from the SOUL and RACE projects are cordially invited to attend. Note however, that, due to the limited time available, it will not be possible to cover the specific aspects (study design, source and type of errors) relevant to these projects during the workshop.
The maximum number of participants is 50.

Within the 6th Framework Programme, the Euratom Programme of the European Union is currently funding a number of epidemiological studies of the effects of occupational, residential and medical radiation exposures in the Alpha-Risk and Gene-Rad-Risk Projects. Although the sources and types of dosimetric errors differ between studies because of the sources of exposures, availability of direct measurements and models for dose-reconstruction, the possibility of modelling and taking into account dosimetric errors in the risk estimates in each of these projects is a common concern.
On the first day of the project, dosimetrists and epidemiologists involved in the individual studies within Alpha-Risk and Gene-Rad-Risk will present the sources and characteristics of errors in their project.
The second day will be devoted to presentations of methods for taking into account dosimetric errors in radiation risk estimates by statisticians who have been involved in this work. The presentations will be followed by a general discussion and recommendations for methods that can be used in the framework of Alpha-Risk and Gene-Rad-Risk and, more broadly, in radiation epidemiology studies in general.
